Client care
Caring for your beanie
Good knitwear lasts for years when it's looked after. The rules are simple: wash cold, never wring, and dry flat.
Merino and wool
- Air it out between wears. Merino resists odour naturally and rarely needs washing.
- When it does, hand wash in cold water with a wool detergent.
- Press the water out in a towel. Never wring or twist.
- Reshape and dry flat, away from radiators and direct sun.
Cashmere and mohair (Atelier)
- Wash as for merino, by hand, cold and gently, and wash less often.
- Small pills are normal in the first few wears as loose fibres work free. Remove them with a cashmere comb, never a razor.
- Don't brush mohair when it's wet. Let it dry flat, then shake it gently to lift the halo.
- Store folded with the cedar sachet from your box to keep moths away.
Cotton and acrylic
- Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, inside out, or hand wash.
- Dry flat. Tumble drying shrinks cotton and flattens the rib.
Technical knits (Mountain Performance)
- Waffle and recycled knits: wash cold on a gentle cycle and dry flat.
- Windline: hand wash cold and skip the fabric softener, which affects the water-resistant face.
Caps
- Spot clean with a damp cloth and a little mild soap. Don't machine wash.
- Let it air dry on its own shape, or over a rolled towel for structured caps.
- Brush faux suede gently with a soft brush once it's dry.
